The Gulf Coast Masters Games are held annually and are recreational and sporting events for those ages 50 and older with competitions based on age brackets. Regional competitions are held May through July.

The games are held in Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia Counties and include bowling, swimming, table tennis, billiards, horseshoes, dominoes, checkers, rook, shuffleboard, tennis, softball throw, basketball throw, Frisbee and Nerf ball throw. Golfers can also sign-up to represent our area in the state games.  Local champions are eligible to compete in the Alabama Masters Games statewide competitions held in October.

The annual Medicare update is held each year in early October, prior to Medicare Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment is October 15 to December 7 annually.  Changes take effect on January 1st.

This free train-the-trainer workshop targets persons who work with people on Medicare so they can be better informed and provide helpful advice.  People on Medicare are also welcome to attend to get an overview of changes that will take place with Medicare and Medicare plans next year.

Because Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D prescription plans change, Medicare changes, or people’s needs change, it is important for people to shop and compare during this open enrollment period which happens every Fall.  Speakers at the workshop not only give information about available plans, but also how Medicare Savings Programs can help reduce premiums or copayments.

Presentations typically include Medicare Advantage Plans, Alabama Medicaid, Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services, Social Security, Veterans Administration, and SenioRx prescription assistance.  This one day workshop is held from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
